The Man from El Dorado tells the story of rum and sugar in Guyana through the life story of Dr. Yesu Persaud. Yesu started off as a rat catcher on a sugar plantation and ended up running most of the sugar corporations in Guyana, producing a world class rum and founding the country's only indigenously owned and run bank. The programme was produced for The Centre for Caribbean Studies at the University of Warwick, directed, shot and edited by Daniyal Harris-Vajda, co-directed and produced by Arlen Harris, executive produced by Professor David Dabydeen and narrated by David Olusoga. The video above is the trailer for the 45 minute documentary.
